HopeScan began not in a lab, but in a clinic in Gaza where electricity flickered and access to care was fragile. Developed by local engineers and doctors working with Spark, the idea emerged from real pain and real patients.
Our mission is to empower healthcare workers with timely breast cancer detection support — without invasive procedures or the need to travel abroad — reducing the burden on an overstretched health system with a tool that can be integrated into any medical centre across the Strip.
Why Gaza, why now: screening delays, limited equipment and overstretched staff turn detection into a race against time, and a large share of breast cancer cases there are found only at a late stage.
What makes HopeScan different: it was built with local developers and doctors rather than only for them, trained on real Gaza patient data, and it treats equity in health AI as a goal alongside technical performance.
